Extract Mapper Basic

Overview

Target Audience

Technical resources who will work with Extract Mapper technology to stage Duck Creek Policy data, or who will work with Map2Code technology to stage non-Duck Creek source data, to the Insights staging database. Attendees are required to have a working knowledge of Author and Manuscript concepts such as public and private groups and fields, and inheritance, to be admitted to the Extract Mapper training. A  basic understanding of relational databases, Duck Creek Platform, XML, XPath, and SQL is helpful.

Description

This course will include the following major topics:

Extract Mapper Training:

Training will consist of an Insights overview, the structure of Duck Creek Policy data, the architecture of Extract Mapper ETL processing for Duck Creek Policy data sources, several hands on mapping exercises including mapping by XPath, expressions, and fields, the creation of custom maps, and pointers to best practice for mapping. The course includes a skills assessment which is one component of an Insights certification.

Map2Code Training:

An overview of the basic steps for Non-Duck data source ETL processing using the Data Management Console Map2Code capability and supporting structures, including adding users, configuring database connections, importing source schemas to Tracker, configuring column to column mappings, and using full load scripts. The course includes a skills assessment which is one component of an Insights certification.

Prerequisites

The following information is important in preparing resources to be successful both in the training and in the successful use of the tools after training has been completed:

Extract Mapper Training:

A working knowledge of Author and Manuscript concepts such as public and private groups and fields, and inheritance, is required to be admitted to the Extract Mapper training. The DCU Policy Boot Camp and/or project experience using Author are acceptable.

A working knowledge of XML and the structure of the XML session data is helpful.

A working knowledge of XPath is helpful.

Familiarity with SQL and SQL Management Studio is helpful.

Map2Code Training:

Familiarity with SQL and SQL Management Studio is helpful.
